"The original intention of the ministry was that it be a Christian mission...
Our call is to [serve] the world."

Rev. Jim Reese
Founder, Christian Horizons

Our beginnings date back to 1965, when Christian Horizons began providing services to people with exceptional needs in Canada, under the direction of founder Rev. Jim Reese.

Christian Horizons/Canada has grown to become the largest provider of services to people with special needs in the province of Ontario, serving 1300 people with 2300 staff, at an annual budget of over $80 million, and has recently expanded their services to include 7 different countries.

In 1977, the sister organization in the United States was organized to include services in Michigan, and Christian Horizons USA was officially recognized by the IRS in 1983 as a non-profit organization.

Christian Horizons USA programs consist of:

  • Christ-centered recreational programs (summer camp & assisted-travel)

  • Educational programs designed to partner with local ministries to promote the cause of people with special needs.
